REAL ESTATE LICENSE

Our goal is to help you succeed in your Real Estate career by presenting and expecting professional standards in learning and personal behavior. You will maximize your school experience with your full participation and cooperation in the classroom. As a new or prospective student, please take a few moments to review the following school policies and procedures. If you have any questions please call the school office at 203-234-3938.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS
The school is governed by rules issued by the CT State Department of Consumer Protection Real Estate Commission. The State requires applicants for a real estate salesperson's license to:

  1. Attend at least 60 hours of classroom instruction
  2. Pass a final exam with a score of at least 70%

Our course in Principles and Practices offers a total of 69 hours of classroom instruction. If you should miss more than 9 hours; you will not be allowed to take the final exam until you have made up the class time requirement. SCHOOL POLICIES & PROCEDURES PAYMENT
Payment in full must be made prior to the start of any course, (By Noon of the business day before class). Payment may be made by cash, check, Mastercard, or Visa.

LATE REGISTRATIONS

  • Those persons who have not made advance registration and payment on or before Noon of the business day prior to the class start (for any course) will incur a late registration charge of $20.00.
  • Only cash or credit card payment will be accepted for late registrations.
  • Registrations at the door must be by cash.
  • There will be a $25.00 charge for any check returned by the bank for insufficient funds or for any declined credit card charge.
  • Credit cards will be charged after the course registration deadline has passed and before the first class starts.
  • The school reserves the right to limit class size and prohibit walk-ins on the day the course begins.

WITHDRAWALS
Requests to withdraw from a course should be submitted to the school in writing. If the student does not notify the school of his or her decision to withdraw; the student will be considered a drop-out and will not be entitled to cancellation refunds, rescheduling, etc.

STUDENT WITHDRAWALS/NOTIFICATION DEADLINES & FEES

  • For courses that run for more than one session, student withdrawals received before Noon (12:00 pm) on the last business day prior to the starting day of the first class session, will receive a tuition refund less a $10.00 administrative fee.
  • Student withdrawals received prior to the third session will receive a tuition refund less a $35.00 administrative fee provided the School is notified in writing of the cancellation.
  • NO REFUNDS will be made after the start of the third class session.

Withdrawal from courses prior to the notification deadline will receive a full refund or credit towards another course. There will be no refund or credit for cancellations received after the final cancellation time.
Students may reschedule courses provided rescheduling is done prior to Noon (12:00 pm) on the last business day before the first class session.

SCHOOL CANCELLED CLASSES
Students will not be charged for classes cancelled by the school or for those classes cancelled due to weather conditions. The class schedule will be revised and/or extended as needed to make up for these types of cancellations.

BOOKS

There will be no refund on books unless the books have not been delivered to the student.

ATTENDANCE
Students are expected to be present in the classroom during the entire class session to receive credit for the required course hours. Students may not leave the classroom to make phone calls or to conduct other business. Students will only receive credit for time that they are actually in class. If a student consistently arrives late or leaves early, the time that they were not present in class will be deducted from their hours toward course credit. The course is scheduled so that a student is able to miss some class time and still fulfill the minimum hours required for course credit.

PUNCTUALITY
Late arrivals are disruptive to the class and impact your 60 hour requirement. All students are expected to arrive ON TIME, i.e., if the class starts at 6:00 pm, be in the classroom at 6:00 pm, not 6:10 pm. Specifically, individual late arrivals or early departures will be noted and documented by the instructor. Late arrivals or early departures that exceed 15 minutes will be deducted in ½ hour increments from your overall hours. You will not be allowed to take your final exam unless you have completed the mandatory 60 hours.

ILLNESS
In cases of illness, courses may be rescheduled provided the School is notified prior to the start of each class session. There will be no refund for illness except when the School has no comparable course to offer as a substitute within a three-month period. (The School reserves the right to make special exception to these policies based on an individual case review).

MISSED SESSIONS
In a multi-session course the student may make up missed sessions at no charge; provided at least 2/3 of the required hours have been completed. The make up session must be the same session that was missed in the original course. This applies to single sessions only and does not apply to students who have dropped out of a course. If  a similar course is being offered at a time that would allow the student to make up the missed session before the course he or she is enrolled in begins, the student may make up the session without the 2/3 requirement.

STUDYING
Success in Life and in Learning requires discipline.  Your success in this course will be impacted by your personal study habits. Principles and Practices is a foundation course that requires the student to read all of the text assignments and to consistently review the class notes and handouts.
Successful course outcomes require not only your active participation in class but an additional investment in time outside of class to review and prepare for the next session.  The course final exam and the State exam are difficult. Developing an organized and disciplined approach to your studies is essential in preparing for the continuing educational and professional requirements of a career in real estate.

REPEATING A PRINCIPLES and PRACTICES COURSE
The full tuition charge less a discount of 35% of the current tuition shall apply to students who have successfully completed a course and wish to retake the course as a refresher or for students who have completed the course but failed the final exam and wish to retake the course. The course must be repeated within two years of the original course end date.

MAKEUP EXAMS

  • Should a student not be present to take the final exam, the student may take the final exam within 30 days of the end date of the course.
  • If a student fails the final exam (Score below 70%) the student may take up to three make-up exams within 90 days of the end date of the course. Make-up exams will be given by appointment only, at the School office during regular office hours. The instructor is not permitted to give make-up exams and any make-up exams given by the instructor will not be counted. Students who fail 3 make-up exams will not be allowed to take another final exam without retaking the course.

EXPULSION

The Instructor or any School staff member may ask a student to leave a class if the student is inattentive, disruptive, or violates the class rules or School policies. Other than for use of cell phones, pagers, etc. the student will receive one verbal warning. In any matter regarding conduct of a student during a class session, the instructor's decision shall be final.

PRIVACY: Student information is confidential. No student addresses, telephone numbers and/or grades will be given out without the student's written permission.
